Cooke County Republican Women has awarded its 2011 North Central Texas College Scholarship to Jennifer Pitzinger, daughter of George and Deanna Pitzinger of Mountain Springs.

Jennifer, a 2009 graduate of Pilot Point High School, is a second year student at NCTC.  An accomplished musician, Jennifer plays trumpet in the NCTC Band and sings in the college choir.  After earning her associate degree, she intends to transfer to West Texas A&M and major in political science.

Jennifer is paying for her education through work and scholarships, including the Delsie Lillard Scholarship and a scholarship from the County Extension office for her work in 4-H.  Jennifer was a member of the Red River 4-H Club for eight years, and served as 4-H Relay for Life Team Captain for two years.

Jennifer was a Girl Scout through eight grade, earning her Bronze Award.  She joined Venturing, a co-ed

branch of Boy Scounts of America for young people ages 14-21, and earned the Gold Award in that

organization.

For the past three summers, Jennifer worked at the Boy Scounts Longhorn Council camp at Lake Bridgeport.  In 2010, she also worked in West Texas at the Buffalo Trails Council camp near Fort Davis.  Her regular job is waitressing.

Jennifer is excited about her latest pastime, participating in historical reenactments.  She also owns two

horses, and other hobbies include horseback and bicycle riding, raising chickens, camting, cooking,

and helping on the family ranch.
